The Story of UAE and Yemen

The talk about the relationship between the UAE and Yemen is an old story that did not begin with Operation Decisive Storm as alleged by some media reports of the Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Since the establishment of the United Arab Emirates by the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Yemen has had a close historical relationship with the UAE. Yemen had a special and exceptional position for the Emirates. If the Houthi insurgency had happened in his time, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan would have adopted the policy which is currently adopted by the UAE leadership towards Yemen, headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The man who ordered the reconstruction of the historic Marib Dam in 1986 and brought life back to this historical region, would not disregard the injustice and aggression of the Houthi and Saleh’s militias in Yemen.

The Emirati leadership cares for its citizens and provides all means of security, happiness, prosperity, and would not sacrifice a single Emirati life in Yemen if it was not worth it – if it was not central to the values and principles of the UAE leadership and people. Many Emiratis gave their lives, fully aware that it is a noble duty to help the people of Yemen.

Skeptics of the UAE’s intentions forgot that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan ordered to reconstruct the Marib Dam to provide water and electricity to the region of Sanaa and Marib. An agenda was there indeed, but a humanitarian and national one: for Yemen to remain Arab. This agenda was pursued by a patriotic historical leader who stood for Arabism, and so did his sons, but only merchants of hate and ignorant people doubt their noble intentions.

The fact that UAE backs the Yemeni people is not questionable.

Between April 2015 and March 2017, the UAE provided the Yemeni people with a total of about 7.3 billion dirhams ($ 2 billion), for 10 million Yemenis, including 4 million children; but as usual, some people who never leave their fancy hotel rooms question the intentions of the UAE who actually donated the $ 2 billion.

The UAE’s strategic objective is to bring Yemen back to its people, and stand in the face of Iranian colonial schemes devised by the mullahs from Qom.

The UAE’s strategic objective is to save Yemen’s children and youth from a gloomy future.

Yemen is a vital pillar of the national security of the GCC countries, and protecting it is an integral part of protecting national security. However, such a strategic objective is disturbing some rent-seeking traitors.

The UAE’s wise leadership will not retreat from its consistent position in Yemen, influenced by the spread of cheap propaganda and malicious suspicions in your media.  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said frankly that chasing the coups militias that have caused destruction and corruption in Yemen is a goal we shall not abandon. “The people of the United Arab Emirates intend to stop injustice and oppression in Yemen.”

The UAE firmly believes in its patriotic mission in Yemen, and there are popular support and a deep awareness of the importance of standing by Yemen. Some might have to read the story of the UAE and Yemen from the beginning instead of spreading allegations and false narratives. The heroes of our armed forces in Yemen within the Arab Alliance are performing a national mission that they fully believe in. Our people support our wise leadership with all their strength and determination, and the values they stand for will continue to exist as long as the Emirates are united.

Yemen’s security is an integral part of UAE security. We want Yemeni people to enjoy their security and stability, and take control of their State, not be subjected to the whims of the proxies of Qom and leaders of terrorism. A strong Yemen is a strong GCC, but conspirators want to get us out of Yemen to control it the same way they tried do before. In spite of that, the Arab coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will not give ground until security is restored in Yemen.

The UAE’s roles and contribution to development in several countries, not only Yemen, is clear to everyone. The Emirates of peace and coexistence can never call for or advocate conspiracies; its true objective is people’s wellbeing.
