Khamenei and the Polytheists of Mecca

It seems that the supreme leader of the Iranian revolution did not want to live in reality, and insists on promoting the illusion to his followers inside and outside Iran. Ali Khamenei came yesterday with a statement broadcasted by the official Iranian news agency “IRNA” in which he said that “the peoples of Yemen, Bahrain and Palestine are oppressed peoples, and we support the oppressed the best we can,” a strange and remarkable statement that deserves analysis and refutation.

Personally I do not know what makes Khamenei consider the people of brotherly Bahrein as oppressed people!! We also do not know his concept of injustice, and if he considers injustice as a matter that does not tolerate silence morally, it behooves him to tell us who is unjust in each individual case and convince us about that. To say that the people of Bahrain is oppressed is itself a crude interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, a position that means that Tehran adheres to continue to intervene in the internal affairs of neighboring countries, and insists on inciting peoples and threatening security and social peace in these countries. Even so, the Bahraini people live a development not available to the majority of the Iranian people, who suffer poor policies and poor management on the part of their regime, which caused sanctions that affected the Iranian people because of the regime’s ambitions to possess nuclear power while the people wants the regime to provide a decent life first and foremost!!!.

To say that the Yemeni people is oppressed is also ironical and reflects a deep sense of humor on the part of the Iranian officials, who have been manipulating the security and stability of Yemen for several years, and were the direct cause of what happened to this brotherly country, and now they are lamenting the deterioration of the situation, claiming to support the Yemeni people!!.

Personally, I agree with Khamenei that the Palestinian people is oppressed, but I have a fundamental question in this file specifically: What did Iran do over the past years in order to lift the injustice on the Palestinian people, both materially and politically? And I would not say militarily because I am totally and absolutely confident that what brings Israel and Iran together is much important that what brings them apart, and that the booming slogans trade against Israel in the Iranian political discourse is only an ideological cloak to achieve the Iranian territorial expansionist goals, no more no less.

One may say that Iran supports Hamas, and considers this to be an expression of Iranian support for the Palestinian cause. Here I draw attention to that Hamas itself is one of the reasons for the suffering of the Palestinian people, and supporting it is motivated  by pragmatic interests linking Hamas and Tehran, and does not stem from reasons related to the resistance of the Palestinian people. To those who do not know or ignore the regional objective reality, the Arab arms of Iran, whether Hamas or Hezbollah or al-Houthi group, are groups fighting their own people and killing them day and night. The Houthi group is eradicating Yemeni civilians, seeking to control the state and the government and turn Yemen into a subordinate to the Persian State whose glory the supreme guide of the Revolution dreams of restoring!!.

As for the Hezbollah, its historical glories in the killing of Syrian civilians and the displacement of millions of them, are well known.  The same thing is done by Hamas, which is trying desperately to implement its political project in the Gaza Strip despite the clear rejection by the Palestinian people!

Khamenei said in his published remarks that “the Polytheists of Mecca were used to ceasing to war in the sacred months, and those who are worse than the Polytheists of Mecca at the time, are the ones who are making Yemeni families suffer from  the loss of their loved ones.” Personally, I also agree with him that the sacred months represented a red line to the Arabs of the Arabian Peninsula and not only the polytheists of Mecca as he says. I also agree with him that those who are worse than the polytheists of Mecca are the ones making Yemeni families suffer from the loss of their loved ones, as the reality is that the Houthi group disregards the humanitarian truce, does not stop the killing of civilians, continues to expand on the territory of Yemen, ignores the rules of the truce, and does not respect the agreement reached by all parties in the interests of the Yemeni people.

What is strange is that Khamenei accuses the Arab coalition countries they are violating the truce, while they voluntarily agreed to the truce, and even made the decision to move to the Operation Restoring Hope for the sake of the Yemeni people and for the sake of the future of the historic relations and blood ties and kinship that bind the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to the brotherly Yemeni people.

What is also strange is that Khamenei says Iran has fought terrorism and treated it harshly. We do not know which terrorism Tehran fought? Is it the terrorism of al-Qaida, whose leaders and their families were hosted by Iran, which provided them with protection at the peak of the international campaign against terrorism following the attacks of September 11th? Or is it the terrorism of the Houthi group whom Tehran trained and funded and sent the Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders to lead its battalions to show off force and to kill the Yemeni people? Or does he intend terrorist organizations and groups that carried out terrorist operations in various regions of the world?

Here, too, one may say that Iran is fighting furiously Daesh in Iraq and that its role is a plus in the fight against terrorism. My answer is that the first part of this talk is true. Iran is already fighting Daesh in Iraq, and the United States are giving Tehran room in Iraq recently for this reason. But the truth is that Iran is not fighting Daesh for its terrorist characteristics, and does so only because Daesh targets the Iraqi Shiites. If Daesh was fighting the Sunnis in Iraq and killing them without killing others, Tehran’s position would have changed completely. Iran would have contented itself with observing the bloodshed without any intervention against Daesh, and this is the truth that should not be overlooked. Sectarianism is what motivates Tehran even in situations that make Iran seem as engaged within the goals and strategies agreed upon by the international community.

Falsifying facts and trading with the pain of peoples may deceive a few for some time but it is difficult for these lies to deceive all the people all of the time. Facts are clear and the false masks fell down and there is no more room to continue repeating myths and selling fantasies.
