UAE and Saudi Arabia: The story of joy

Many felt the joy of celebrating the 88th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the UAE. The celebrations were not only official, but were also seen in the street, in the social media and in Emirati homes.

The two nations have showed support for the visions of their leaders, which aspire to elevate bilateral relations to levels beyond the usual protocols of international relations.

The present relationship between the UAE and Saudi Arabia is based on strong fundamentals of history and geography. The two leaders recognize the value of their countries on the international scene and the need to build a strong alliance in the face of the designs of enemies.

There is an unprecedented compatibility in the strategic visions between the leaders of the two countries, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and his brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. These visions were translated into institutional frameworks through the formation of the Joint Higher Committee, which is charged with transforming visions into action plans to ensure taking bilateral relations to the next level.

The strong alliance and partnership between the UAE and Saudi Arabia respond to the strategic challenges and threats facing them. The alliance has stopped Iran’s expansionist sectarianism aimed at tightening the siege on the GCC countries, in the north through the presence of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in Syria and in the south with the Ansar Allah attempting to control the Yemeni State.

To understand the usefulness of this alliance for the security and stability of the region, we must know that the control of the Houthis constitutes a very strategic threat to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, leading to the Iranian regime controlling the Bab al-Mandab corridor, exporting terrorism, spreading chaos and turning Yemen into a stronghold for terrorists to move north.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia launched the Operation Decisive Storm in time to save Yemen from the Houthi-Iranian attack, providing relief and humanitarian assistance to their brothers in Yemen.

The rapid development of UAE-Saudi relations is certainly an answer to strategic imperatives and is fully in line with the desire to consolidate bilateral relations. Since its establishment by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE has been firmly convinced that Saudi Arabia is an indispensable strategic ally of the UAE. Likewise, the Kingdom recognizes that cooperation with the UAE strengthens the Saudi State and contributes to its security and stability.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia stood united in the years following the chaos of 2011 to maintain the foundations of Arab national security by supporting pivotal countries such as Egypt, reducing the losses suffered by Arab countries as a result of the conspiracy of States sponsors of terrorism to spread chaos and unrest and to control the resources of the Arab nations and divide their countries.

Congratulations to the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on their national day. This is a story of joy and spontaneous popular cohesion that affirms the unity of destiny and the bright future for the relations between the two countries, God willing.
