A clear Emirati vision for the future

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s speech on July 13 clearly reflected His Highness’ vision of the UAE’s strategy and the regional and international environment. HH the Head of State’s speech, the first since he took office in mid-May, revealed many facts and matters. The first is the value of loyalty, ingrained in the minds of the UAE leadership.
It is a noble human value inherited from generations of Zayed School disciples and instilled in the consciousness of the Emirati people, mixed with the value of loyalty, an integral part of the principles of an ordinary Emirati, let alone a leader.
His Highness, the Head of State, began his speech by paying tribute to the fatherly leader and wise teacher with a great heart. He chronicled the good work the late leader did with sincerity and wisdom throughout his reign, and pointed out his legacy to the people of the region and the world. Such is the UAE.
The flag is passed down from generation to generation as part of the system of loyalty, giving and continuing the message started by the founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Secondly, the message of goodness and peace that Zayed and his founding brothers wanted is the approach that HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Head of State, stands committed to to prove that the UAE is a ship that moves forward with an informed vision for the future, holding on to its identity and cultural heritage.
Third, HH the Head of State explained in his speech the approach to governance and public policy at the national and international levels. At the domestic level, the focus was on continuing the policy of empowerment as the “highest priority since the founding of the state,” so that comfort, happiness and care for citizens would remain the focus of plans and goals in the future.
Between the lines of these few sentences, many things can be said that explain and analyze the strategy of the welfare of the citizens and the way the wealth, natural resources and the returns of development are used to achieve this goal, a reality in the UAE. Externally, HH the Head of State affirms the sovereignty of the State as a fundamental principle that cannot be relinquished.
In parallel, the State’s external relations emphasize the values of coexistence, respect and friendship, reaching out to all who share the values of cooperation and mutual respect to achieve progress and prosperity. The rule here is clear. It is about linking international relations with the values of shared values and mutual respect.
These are the foundations of the UAE’s foreign policy since its establishment. Today, these foundations are strengthened by historic initiatives such as the signing of the Abraham Agreement with Israel, which adds to the UAE’s principle of coexistence with various countries in the world based on respect, harmony and human living together.
In his speech, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment and instilled confidence in the existing international and regional partnerships with most countries in the world, reiterating the pledge to act in line with the UAE’s principles and strategic interest.
He stressed the continuity of “improving the UAE’s economic competitiveness and achieving the best global performance in this field” and “developing our capabilities in science and technology.” “The role of the private sector is crucial and must be strengthened, and its contribution to the development of the economy must be increased,” he said.
In the area of foreign policy, he reiterated the desire to build in the next phase on the good reputation that exists for forging high-quality strategic partnerships with various countries “to strengthen our role among the world’s leading countries in development, humanitarian aid and charity, and to continue to help communities globally without regard to religion, race or color.”
He renewed commitment to ensuring that the UAE remains a reliable energy supplier and a key supporter of global energy security.
He outlined the state’s overall foreign policy framework, saying the UAE will continue to support peace and stability in our region and around the world, help brothers and friends, and advocate wisdom and cooperation for the benefit and progress of humanity. “We will continue our firm approach of building bridges of partnership, dialogue, effective and balanced relations based on trust, credibility and mutual respect with the nations of the world to achieve stability and prosperity for all.”
The UAE school of governance is about consistency, development, and steadfastness. The values passed on by the founder Sheikh Zayed set a pioneering approach. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Head of State, is a born leader who knows the importance of following principles, continuity, and looking forward to a better future for the nations.
His Highness’ speech echoed a conscious strategy that recognizes the value of linking the past, present and future in planning, modernizing and understanding circumstances and variables in order to improve positions and status and strive for what the leadership and people desire to achieve.
