Dr. Salem Alketbi is an Emirati political analyst and opinion writer who examines the forces reshaping the Middle East: Gulf security, Iran’s regional strategy, extremism and political Islam, and UAE foreign policy. He holds a PhD in Public Law and Political Science from Hassan II University in Casablanca and has written more than 1,700 opinion articles. He has been interviewed by The Times of Israel, The Christian Science Monitor and Alhurra, and his analysis has been cited by Newsweek, BBC News Arabic and MEMRI. He is the author of Fakhr Al-Oruba (2017).
Dr. Salem Alketbi is an Emirati political analyst, researcher and opinion writer who explains to Arab and international audiences the forces reshaping the Middle East, from Gulf security and Iran’s ambitions to extremism and political Islam.
He holds a PhD in Public Law and Political Science, awarded with highest distinction and a recommendation for publication, from Hassan II University in Casablanca. His thesis examined political and religious propaganda and leadership on Arab social media.
He has written more than 1,700 opinion articles for Arab and international outlets, including Elaph, Al Arab, The Jerusalem Post and Israel Hayom, many of them translated into English, French and Hebrew. He has been interviewed by The Times of Israel, The Christian Science Monitor, Alhurra, Al-Mashhad TV and AZERTAC. His analysis has been cited by Newsweek, BBC News Arabic and RIA Novosti, and by MEMRI, which has covered his writing and interviews in more than 25 reports and clips since 2019.
His research focuses on countering extremism and terrorism, the ideological and organisational structures of political Islam, Arab–Iranian relations, UAE foreign policy and the changing international order.
He is the author of Fakhr Al-Oruba: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Leader and the Man (2017) and of The United Arab Emirates and the Palestinian Cause: A Historical Study. His research has also covered the philosophy of Emirati humanitarian aid and UAE national security, and he has taken part in specialised conferences and seminars. He is a member of the London Press Club.
His writing starts from a conviction that the region’s stability and prosperity are built through cooperation.
