UAE–Morocco: A Strong Partnership

Relationships between nations over the ages have been governed by complex and overlapping networks of mutual interests and benefits. They are also governed by regulatory frameworks that define the paths and directions of these relations over time.
The relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco are no exception to this rule. Shared interests make a strong basis for their strategic relations especially given the stable long-time brotherly bonds linking them. The relations between the two sister countries have developed, contrary to what some analysts expected and how they have been interpreting some events involving the two countries and the positions they take thereon.
In a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces), Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Boreita and Minister of Economy and Finance Mohammed Boussaid handed a hand-written letter from His Majesty King Mohammed VI, regarding enhancing bilateral ties. His Highness stressed the depth of fraternal relations that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco push towards further development. During the meeting, the Moroccan minister also conveyed the greetings from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, wishing Morocco and its people more progress and prosperity, following similar greetings from the King to UAE leaders.
Interference has caused problems and differences in inter-Arab relations and is a source of tensions in the Middle East. Based on mutual respect and appreciation as well as non-interference in internal affairs, the Emirati-Moroccan bilateral relations, says His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have always been fraternal.
Inter-Arab relations would have been different if there was no interference. But in reality, the interference of some countries harms the security of others. Hostile regional States and actors have allied with some Arab States that had been described as sister counties.
No one is opposed to the idea of strengthening the status, influence and sovereignty of any Arab country. Strengthening Arab collective power is a deep conviction for the UAE.
However, some practices that have surfaced in recent years have been causing enormous damage to the national security of the Gulf and Arab countries.
All in all, the Emirati-Moroccan relations are a paragon of good political and binational ties.
