Till this day, the people of the United Arab Emirates still remember the values instilled by the founding leader, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. From generation to generation, we grew up with values that became today the foundation of UAE soft power.

In this context, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum(MbR), Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sent a message to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MbZ), Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The message reflected mutual respect, appreciation and loyalty. In his letter, MbR said MbZ was dedicated to serving the nation and providing a decent living for the people, placing our country among the developed nations and securing its future for decades to come.

It is no surprise that MbR described MbZ as his "brother, friend and companion." In my book titled The Pride of Arabs: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Leader and the Man, I expounded on this unique fraternal bond between the two leaders, and what it means to the people of the UAE.

"I thank him not on my behalf but on behalf of my people, not for a personal favor but for the country he is building for the next generations. Thank you Mohammed bin Zayed for you are the continuation of Zayed in our time," reads the letter titled "Thank You Mohammed bin Zayed". "Thank you Mohammed bin Zayed for being the protector of the country and commander of its army. You embraced young people, taught generations to serve the homeland and instilled bravery and dignity in them," he continues.

Every citizen of the UAE feels the same. We extend our sincere gratitude to the leadership that invests time, money, shows support to our people.

"Few people know that he [MbZ] works 18 hours a day for the UAE and that he only spends a one-week vacation yearly. Tens of millions of children around the world benefit from the gifts and donations he makes quietly," MbR clarifies in his letter.

However, we cannot thank him enough. No letters can capture the love the people has for MbZ, or "bu Khaled" as we like to call him. As we read this historic letter, we feel an honor, having two leaders that personify the unity of our beloved country. His Highness Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, said: "Thank you to the great leaders, the miracle workers keeping us ahead of time."
